Mack Mtn. Road Work & Detour

The Town of Cabot will be doing some work on its part of Mack Mtn. Road which will block access to and from Route 2 for up to a week.  This will happen sometime soon - within the next few weeks; they were not specific.  They will likely post warning signs there a few days beforehand.

People who use the Mack Mtn. Road/Route 2 access may want to detour through Danville instead, or use Hookerville Road Cutoff (called Houghton Road from the Route 2 Cabot end) - but much of it is a narrow one-lane Class 4 road, so use caution if you do.

Emergency SB Mtg. Also Roadside Mowing this week.

Emergency meeting:  The Selectboard will hold an emergency meeting tonight 7/23/13 at 6:30pm at the town office meeting room to approve remedies for two problems that popped up yesterday: the Willow Brook Road culvert partial washout and a replacement for the grader cutting edge that broke.  They need to be addressed now and cannot wait for a regular or later special meeting.  As always, members of the public are welcome.  We expect it to be brief!

Roadside mowing:  Yes, roadside mowing began today and will continue for the next few days.  We hire an outside contractor with a mower so he will not be as familiar with individual properties as our own road crew.
Be aware that on most roads, the town right of way runs about 25 feet to either side from the center line of the road.  If you care about your plantings, refrain from landscaping (or placing fences or structures) within the right of way.
The town's ability to maintain our roads, road shoulders and ditches is ultimately a matter of public safety. Thanks for your understanding.

Selectboard Position Open

Tomorrow at town meeting we will be thanking Richard Browne for 9 years of service (3 terms!) on the Selectboard.  He will continue to serve the Town on the Planning Commission.

His departure leaves an open position for a new Selectboard member.  Are you looking for a way to be more involved?  to learn how the town works?  to have a direct say in Peacham's town management decisions?    Run for office!  Have someone nominate you on the floor of town meeting (Article 5: To elect a Selectboard member for a term of three years).

If you have questions about the time commitment or anything else about it, contact me, Annette Lorraine, or Andy Cochran.
