Remember the annual Town Meeting is tomorrow, March 5, 2013 at 10:00 am (followed by the annual School District meeting) at the Peacham Congregational Church across from the town hall.  Democracy in action!

There will be a potluck luncheon downstairs.  Last names A-M bring a main dish; last names N-Z bring a side dish or salad.  Beverages, rolls & desserts provided. $3.00/person; children under 5 free.

Printed town/school reports (2012) are available at the town office and at the meeting, or as a 3MB pdf at Peacham.net.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Be Ready for Another Storm (Sandy this time)

A reminder that Hurricane Sandy is on its way to Peacham with high winds beginning this afternoon and running though late Tuesday morning.  And rain throughout the week.  State emergency services are asking folks to stay off the roads Monday evening through Tuesday if possible because there are bound to be downed trees and power lines.  Be prepared for long power outages (with food that needs no refrigeration, containers of water if you have a well, flashlights or lanterns, battery or windup radio); with such a widespread storm over the northeastern US, power crews will be spread thin and may not get to remote areas for some time.  If predictions are overblown, it is better to be overprepared than the other way around.

With downed trees or road washouts, leave a message at the town garage: 592-3101; our foreman, Mark Chase, will check them but may not have time to return calls to everyone.  For power outages, call your power company (Green Mountain Power: 1-888-835-4672). For other emergencies, call 9-1-1.  Please be patient with our road crew - they may be working long hard hours over the next few days.
